Fire hits church, homes in QC; bishop hurt

A bishop was hurt during a fire that hit an Aglipayan church and several houses on Sampaguita 1 Street in Barangay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City on Monday morning.

The Quezon City fire District (QCFD) said the victim, Bishop Slavador Gallester, 58, sustained minor burns on both arms.

The QCFD said the fire was raised to first alarm at around 9:02 a.m.

The blaze was declared under control at 9:50 a.m. and was extinguished at 10:08 a.m.

The QCFD said the fire, allegedly caused by a faulty electrical wiring, started on the second floor of a house in the area. Estimated cost of damage to property was placed at P100,000.

Authorities have yet to determine the number of burned house and affected families

This incident is still under investigation.
