Rains prevail over parts of PH due to shear line, LPA trough, amihan

Three weather systems may cause rains over parts of the country in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, Jan. 22.
PAGASA said the combined effect of the shear line and trough or extension of low pressure area (LPA) may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon.
Shear line is a boundary line where the cold air from the northeast monsoon or amihan and warm air from the easterlies meets.
PAGASA said the amihan may cause cloudy and rainy weather over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.
Those in areas affected by the shear line, trough of LPA, and amihan are advised to remain vigilant during moderate to heavy rains as they may cause flooding or landslides.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light amihan rains.
The rest of the country may also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
