18 individuals saved from distressed boat off Iloilo – PCG

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 18 individuals from a distressed boat in the vicinity waters between Carles Island and Gigantes Island in Iloilo on Saturday, Jan. 21.\

An incident report from the PCG said motorbanca “Prince and Mae” was carrying 18 individuals when it encountered engine trouble and stopped working around 10:41 a.m.

Fortunately, some local residents immediately responded to their distress call.

Rescue teams located the distressed boat at 1:18 p.m. and assisted the passengers.

The PCG said no one was hurt and all the passengers were confirmed to be in “good physical condition.”

The boat was also towed to Barangay Lantangan in Carles, Iloilo for the needed repairs.
