Two ex-cops tagged in e-sabong agent kidnapping in Laguna surrendered

Two dismissed policemen who were implicated in the abduction of an online cockfighting master agent in Laguna when they were still in the service, have surrendered, the police's Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) disclosed on Saturday, Jan. 21.

IMEG director Police Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon said the two former cops, Rigel Brosas and Daryl Paghangaan, were convinced to surrender after a series of negotiations,

Rigel, then patrolman, and Paghangaan, then a staff sergeant, were among those who allegedly pretended to be agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) when they took Ricardo Lasco inside his house in San Pablo City in Laguna in Aug. 30, 2021.

They were also accused of taking cash and other valuable personal belongings inside Lasco's house.

Lasco is still missing as of this time. He was among the 34 missing cockfighting players who were abducted and yet to be accounted for.

Police earlier said that the disappearance of the cockfighting players is connected to the alleged crackdown by online sabong owners against game-fixers.

De Leon said Brosas surrendered at 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 19 while Paghangaan surrendered five hours later.

The two, along with then patrolman Roy Navarrete, were charged with robbery and kidnapping with serious illegal detention.
