Good news to business owners in Pasig City! The local government announced on Friday, Jan. 20, that the deadline for the assessment and payment of business taxes is extended until Friday, Jan. 27.
The Pasig City Council passed on Thursday, Jan. 19, Resolution No. 153, series of 2023, which extends the period of tax payments in order for owners to renew their business permits.
The resolution states that no penalties or surcharges will be billed or included during the period of extension.
This is applicable only to businesses without delinquencies, clarified the local government.
The extension period will also no longer cover the five percent discount on business taxes that the local government previously offered.
The incentive, which lapsed on Jan. 20, was based on Chapter V, Article III, Section 66 of the Revised 2017 Pasig Revenue Code.
Business owners can pay their business taxes at the City Hall on Monday to Friday at 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Real Property Tax
At the start of the year, the local government also announced that citizens can avail of a 10 percent discount on Real Property Tax (RPT) if they pay it in full on or before Jan. 31.
The collected RPT includes the Basic RPT (consisting of one and a half percent for Residential and two percent for Commercial and Industrial), one percent for Special Education Fund Tax, and three percent for Ad Valorem Tax on Idle Lands.
Citizens can also avail of a five percent discount if the RPT is paid on time, according to the quarterly payment schedule for the first installment (on or before March 31), second installment (on or before June 30), third installment (on or before Sept. 30), and fourth installment (on or before Dec. 31).
Citizens can also pay RPTs for 2024 onwards in advance, starting January 2023. Taxpayers who will fully pay in advance can get a 15 percent discount.
