CEBU CITY -- The provincial government of Bohol continues to strengthen its farm-to-market road program following a series of groundbreaking for separate road projects.

Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado on Thursday, Jan. 18, led the groundbreaking and capsule-laying for the P91-million Pondol-Candaigan farm-to-market road in Loon town.
Aumentado was joined in the activity by Loon Mayor Elvis Peter Relampagos and officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Eighty percent of the 4.7-kilometer road project is funded by the World Bank under the Philippine Rural Development Project.
The provincial government of Bohol and DA each shelled funds amounting to 10 percent of the project’s total cost. The project will be finished next year.
Aumentado said the project will benefit 557 households and 237 hectares of agricultural land in Barangays Pondol, Bahi, Nueva Vida and Candaigan.
“This project will be a big help for barangays Pondol, Bahi, Nueva Vida and Candaigan. These barangays will definitely enjoy a big development once this project is completed,” stressed Aumentado.
Aumentado on Saturday, Jan. 21, also led the groundbreaking for the rehabilitation of another farm-to-market road in Bilar town.
Bilar Mayor Norman Palacio and Vice Mayor Ronie Maligmat were among those who attended the event.
The 10.9-kilometer road will pass through five barangays, namely Bonifacio, Cabacnitan, Cambagao, Dagohoy, and Zamora.
With a cost of P170 million, the project will benefit 1,384 combined households and 1,468 hectares of agricultural land.
