The provincial government of Bulacan will commemorate the 124th anniversary of the First Philippine Republic on Monday, Jan. 23.
This year’s anniversary, which is themed “Unang Republikang Pilipino: Gabay Tungo sa Napapanahong Pagbabago”, will be celebrated at the historic grounds of Barasoain Church in the City of Malolos starting at 8 a.m.
Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro will be joined by District 1 Rep. Danilo A. Domingo as the honorary guest in the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies.
Amid all the progress and developments, Fernando made sure that patriotism and respect for the province, where the First Philippine Republic was established, will always remain in the hearts of the Bulakenyos.
“Sa modernisasyon at kaunlarang kinakaharap ng ating lalawigan, nais kong ipinta sa mga puso’t isip ng bawat Bulakenyo ang kahalagahan ng araw ng pagkakatatag ng Unang Republika ng Pilipinas. Ito ay araw ng pagdakila sa ating mga ninuno na inilaban ang demokrasya; ito ay araw ng pagkilala sa lalawigan bilang mahalagang bahagi ng kasaysayan,” (With the modernization and progress in the province, I would like to paint in heart and mind to every Bulakenyos the significance of the day the First Philippine Republic was founded. This is the day of honoring our ancestors who fought for democracy; this is the day of recognizing the province as an important part of our history)," the governor said.
The program will also be attended by Bulacan Provincial Police director Col. Relly B. Arnedo; Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo, officer-in-charge of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines; City of Malolos Mayor Christian D. Natividad, and department heads and some employees of the provincial government of Bulacan.
