3 posing as NBI employees nabbed for extorting P10,000 from funfair owner


PINUKPUK, Kalinga – Police arrested three persons who posed as National Bureau of Investigation employees for extorting P10,000 from a funfair owner in Tumauini, Isabela on Thursday, Jan. 19.

A report to Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, Police Regional Office-Cordillera director, from Col. Charles Domallig, Kalinga police chief, identified the suspects as Majelyn Bunagan, 38; Joel Empleo, 46; and Martin de Guzman, 27.

Domallig said the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station received a call from the owner of the amusement park

at around 11:20 p.m. that the suspects identified themselves as NBI employees and extorted P10,000.

Suspects fled onboard a Sports Utility Vehicle but were intercepted in a checkpoint here. They were taken to the municipal police headquarters where the victim positively identified the suspects.

Two NBI ID with the names of two suspects, one android Samsung cellular phone, 10 P1,000 bills amounting to P10,000, one vehicle key, one professional driver's license, and one touch screen cellular phone were recovered from them.
