Farmer gunned down over land dispute in Negros

BACOLOD CITY - A farmer was shot dead by an unidentified assailant due to a land dispute at Sitio Manubutubu, Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

The victim was identified as Domingo Bustillo, 52, of Barangay Mahalang.

Lt. Col. Reynante Jomocan, Himamaylan police chief, said the suspect reportedly approached and shot the victim while he was checking on his harvested grains.

Jomocan said the victim succumbed to four gunshot wounds in the body.

Recovered by police from the crime scene were three fired cartridge cases of .45 caliber firearm, a black holster, and an empty white sack.

Jomocan said they already have a person of interest.
