Operations returning to normal, but flights not yet fully restored

After the country's Air Traffic Management (ATM) system conked out, along with its backup, on New Year's Day, flight operations are returning to normal Tuesday, January 2, 2023, but airlines warned that it could take some time to fully restore normal schedules.

This developed as local airlines cancelled 44 more flights. Airlines also said that it will take some time to fully restore normal schedules, as they cope with "the domino effect" of hundreds of flights cancelled yesterday.

They have to reposition each aircraft that had been held back or diverted to other airports and adjust flight timings based on revised clearances.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) today canceled an additional 17 domestic and 3 international flights.

-PR1811/1812 - MNL/Davao/MNL

-PR1841/1842 - MNL/Cebu/MNL

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS CANCELLED:

-PR538 - Bali (Denpasar)/MNL

-PR101/01 - Honolulu/MNL (originally departing from Honolulu on January 1)

-PR113/01 - Los Angeles/MNL (originally departing from Los Angeles on January 1)

For its part, AirAsia Philippines is implementing additional flight adjustments through a recovery flight on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 for the 12 domestic flights it cancelled today.

Guests are advised to regularly check registered sms and email for preflight notifications on flight adjustments.

The airline apologized for inconveniences caused by the unforseen disruption and is working closely with government and airport authorities until it fully resolves the situation.

On the other hand, Cebu Pacific (CEB) continues to review its operations and

is still working on the recovery of its network as well as normalizing its operations.

Consequently, CEB has cancelled a dozen additional domestic flights.
