BACOLOD CITY -- A total of 16 firecracker-related incidents, with no fatalities, were reported here and Negros Occidental during the holiday season.
Fourteen were reported in the province from Dec. 21 to New Year's Day.
Lt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said that two cases each were reported in the cities of Cadiz and Kabankalan and one each in the towns of Hinoba-an, Valladolid, E.B. Magalona, Binalbagan, Candoni, and Isabela, and the cities of Sagay, Bago, and Victorias.
There were two incidents based on the monitoring of 10 police stations in the hospitals here.
Meanwhile, policemen here and in the province recorded no significant or major incident related to the celebration of the New Year.
They said the holiday season was generally peaceful with no stray bullet or indiscriminate firing incidents.
No major road accidents were also reported during the occasion.
