27,300 passengers recorded at Western Visayas seaports after New Year

BACOLOD CITY -- The Philippine Coast Guard recorded 27,274 passengers in all seaports in Western Visayas on Monday, Jan. 2.
The PCG said 14,818 outbound and 12,906 inbound passengers flocked to various seaports in the region.
One-thousand, six-hundred ninety-six outbound and 867 inbound passengers were reported here as of 11 a.m. on Monday.
A total of 125 outbound and 97 inbound rolling cargoes were recorded while four motor vessels were inspected here.
Commander Jansen Benjamin, operations officer and public information officer of PCG-Western Visayas, said most of the travelers were returning to their workplaces after the holiday season.
Benjamin said there were no reported maritime incidents and the influx of travellers was generally peaceful.
PCG deployed 292 personnel in various seaports in the region to ensure the safety of travelers.
A total of 305 vessels and motorbancas were inspected by the PCG in the region.
