84 LGUs in Central Luzon cited for 'exceptional' drug war campaign

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) commended 84 cities, municipalities and a provincial government in Central Luzon for their accomplishments in their respective illegal drug campaign.

In a statement on Wednesday, Jan. 18, the DILG Regional Office 3 noted that the 84 LGUs exhibited “High Functional Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (ADACs)’’ and were the recipients of the awards during the 2022 Regional Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awards last Jan. 16, 2023.

The winning LGUs were cited for their exemplary efforts in complementing the national government's anti-illegal drugs campaign and for obtaining a “High Functionality Rating during the 2021 ADAC Performance Audit.’’

Of the 84 LGUs, eight were declared as national awardees after garnering perfect scores in both the functionality and awarding assessment, while the remaining 76 were regional awardees.

In line with the launching of the Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA) Program, the DILG Central Luzon also awarded the winners for the Poster-Making and Song-Writing Contest conducted last December 2022.

The BIDA is the flagship program of the DILG that will help guide the LGUs in advocating and involving our communities, schools, and families in the fight against illegal drugs.

The ADAC Performance Audit is a yearly activity conducted by the DILG to assess the functionality and effectiveness of local ADACs based on the existing issuances and policies, determine anti-illegal drug innovations and practices at all levels and recognize the best performing ADACs.

DILG Undersecretary for Plans, Public Affairs and Communications Margarita N. Gutierrez and DILG Regional Director Anthony C. Nuyda graced the activity where they emphasized the importance of the local ADACs in the nation's fight against illegal drugs.

The members of the Central-Luzon Inter-agency Committee Against Illegal Drugs (CL-ICAD) Advocacy Cluster and the Regional Management Coordinating Council (RMCC) were also present during the event. (Chito A. Chavez)
