1 million bivalent Covid-19 vaccine donations expected to arrive in PH soon—DOH

The Philippines is expected to receive one million bivalent Covid-19 vaccines “in the coming months” to be donated by other countries and the global vaccine sharing platform Covax Facility, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
In a statement, the DOH said that the country is expected to receive the donations as soon as negotiations are finalized.
“The DOH is in continuous coordination for the donations through the Covax facility and other countries," the DOH said on Thursday, Jan. 19.
"We are expecting more than one million doses to arrive in the coming months, depending on the negotiations," it added.
Meanwhile, the DOH is continuously in talks with vaccine makers for the procurement of this type of Covid-19 vaccine.
“The procurement process of the bivalent vaccines are still ongoing,” it said.
In September 2022, the DOH announced that it is already in talks with Moderna and Pfizer for the possible procurement of bivalent vaccines.
At present, the country is still using the monovalent vaccines for its Covid-19 vaccination program.
“There are currently no bivalent vaccines being administered in the country. All of these are still under negotiation and are still on the process,” the DOH noted.
