Cebu's flagship tourism program 'Suroy-Suroy Sugbo' rolls off

CEBU CITY -- Another installment of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, the flagship tourism program of Cebu province, rolled off on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

A total of 15 towns and one city in the northern part of the province will be featured in the activity dubbed as ‘Northern Escapade.’

The ‘Northern Escapade’ is part of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo’s five tours that include the Southern Heritage Trail, Enchanting Camotes, Midwest Trail, and Urban Tour.

Eleven buses carrying local and foreign tourists left the Cebu Capitol around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, signaling the start of the activity.

According to Provincial Tourism Officer Marti Ybañez, the Northern Escapade attracted at least 800 participants, including some 400 ‘balikbayans.’

Tour packages for Suroy-Suroy Sugbo ranged from P11,000-P14,000 per head.

Leading the tour was Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia and regional directors of the Department Tourism.

The first day of the tour covered the towns of Consolacion, Compostela, Carmen, Tabogon, Daanbantayan and Medellin.

The second day on Wednesday, Jan. 18, featured the towns of San Remigio, Sta. Fe, Madridejos and Bantayan.

The final day of the tour on Thursday will bring the participants to Bantayan, Bogo City, Borbon, Sogod, Catmon and Liloan.

Just like in previous Suro-Suroy Sugbo stops, guests will get to explore the participating local government unit’s culture, tradition and delicacies.
