VP Duterte thanks Japan for anti-terrorism efforts in PH


Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday, Jan. 17, lauded the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for its continued support in the peace process and anti-terrorism efforts in southern Philippines.

In a Facebook post, the official showed photos of her meeting with JICA President, Dr. Tanaka Akihiko at the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

“Pinasalamatan ko si (I thanked) Dr. Akihiko sa tulong ng (for the help of) JICA at suporta ng (and for the support of) Japan sa patuloy na (for the continued) peace process, at sa patuloy na tulong sa (and for the help for the) Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) sa pagpapatatag ng seguridad at kaligtasan laban sa terorismo sa pamamagitan ng kanilang iba’t ibang (for strengthening the security and the safety against terrorism through their various) socio-economic programs,” she wrote.

Duterte shared that Akihiko expressed his support for the Philippines by presenting their programs, as well as ways how these plans could help in the country’s progress.

The post showed a photo of the Vice President and Akihiko shaking hands.

Another photo captured their discussion as representatives from both camps looked on.

Numerous foreign governments have expressed support to the peace process in the region, as well as fulfill the promises of the Bangsamoro Basic Law, which established the BARMM.

The BARMM is currently in the process of creating a Bangsamoro government.
