Romualdez reacts to PBBM's investment pitch at WEF

House Speaker Martin Romualdez thinks that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s participation at the ongoing 2023 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland is off an "auspicious start".

“This is an auspicious start and bodes well for the success of the President’s mission here at the WEF and that is to position the Philippines as an investment hub and gateway to the Asia-Pacific region,” said Romualdez in a statement sent to House of Representatives reporters on Tuesday night, Jan. 17.

Romualdez gave these remarks in reaction to the Filipino leader's investment pitch in front of international business bigwigs during a dinner hosted for Marcos on the sidelines of the WEF.

"Everyone was excited about the Philippine recovery story and agreed that it is the future investor haven for western capital," said the Leyte 1st district congressman.

“I am confident that the President would get the same response as he articulates the gains made under his administration to make the Philippines more investment-friendly,” the Speaker added.

Romualdez--arguably Marcos's top ally in the Philippine legislature--is part of the country’s official delegation to the WEF.

Marcos assumed the presidency on June 30, 2022.
