"Let us welcome the Year of the Rabbit with high hopes and positivity knowing that a better tomorrow awaits us. A better tomorrow that is founded on unity, peace, and cooperation," Marcos said in a video message to the Chinese-Filipino community on Monday, Jan. 16.

It was delivered during the new year celebration hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Manila.

He enjoined the Chinese-Filipino community to use the occasion as an opportunity to further strengthen the ties of both nations by revisiting "our cultural and historical richness."

"It is my pleasure to join you in ushering in a new dawn filled with wishes of health and prosperity for ourselves and our communities. Let this occasion be an opportunity to look into our cultural and historical richness as a people and to strengthen the ties that bind us as a nation," the President said.

"May we all write a new and vibrant chapter, especially with our Filipino Chinese communities in securing good fortune, joy, and harmony for all," he further said.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian hosted a reception welcoming the Chinese New Year on Monday. Well wishes from Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Vice President Sara Duterte were delivered during the event.
