The Mandaluyong City local government has been awarded its 2nd ISO: 9001-2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification on Monday, Jan. 16, for excellence in providing quality public service amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
An ISO certification certifies that a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure has all the requirements for standardization and quality assurance.
ISO is an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems.
During their Monday morning assembly, Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos personally received the certification from National Quality Assurance of the Philippines Inc. (NQA) Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Ranillo Bernardino.
According to Bernardino, the city has passed NQA's first surveillance audit which was held last Dec. 2. The agency, he said, plans to hold its second surveillance by October.
"Ang tagumpay na ito ay nakamit natin sa pagkakaisa ng lahat ng mga empleyado ng pamahalaang lungsod, at sa hangad nating maitaas ang antas ng serbisyo publiko (This recognition has been achieved due to the unity of all our employees and the city government in our goal to improve the level of our service to the public)," Abalos said.
"Sikapin pa nating lahat sa pamahalaang lungsod na mapaigting ang ating pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa ating mga mamamayan (Let's all do our best in maintaining the good quality of service we are giving to our citizens)," he added.
The city first received its ISO: 9001-2015 QMS certification on Nov. 15, 2021 under the leadership of former Mandaluyong City Mayor and now Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos.
