GOSSIP GIRL: Joaquin Domagoso confirms daddy Isko Moreno's showbiz comeback

Three-time best actor winner Joaquin Domagoso announced that his father former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is officially coming back to show business and his portrayal as Ninoy Aquino in the upcoming movie 'Martyr or Murderer (MOM)' would be his perfect comeback vehicle.

Joaquin is making waves not only here in the Philippines but globally after he won best actor in three international festivals from his movie “That Boy in the Dark."

His most recent victory came from Sweden’s Boden International Film Festival (BIFF) where his director Adolfo Alix Jr. also won best director and the movie nabbed best feature film.

Late last year, the 21-year-old actor clinched two best actor awards from the 16th Toronto Film and Script Awards and the Five Continents International Film festival in Venezuela.

Gossip Girl was able to play Pinoy Henyo with the young thespian and was able to get a one-on-one interview. “Honestly, Ate Giselle, I am overwhelmed. I feel like I do not deserve these awards. Because of these accolades, I have been told I am more so I have to be more." The kid had depth just like his father.

I asked him if he already has a vlog like other actors and he said, “I am still studying the possibility of having a vlog for as long as the content will not be about me. The truth is, I want to empower the youth, push them to strive better. The Gen Z kids nowadays are just so chill and relaxed. Everything is less now after the pandemic. I miss the old days when everybody strived for more, hungered for more and worked harder. Since I do not have vlog yet, I would like to promote my father’s vlog ‘Iscovery Nights’ which just had his maiden episode in You Tube several days ago.”

As of presstime, Isko's vlog already has 151,000 followers and almost half a million views in less than a week. His first guest was Coco Martin and the duo talked about their humble beginnings. Coco revealed that he also was once a “batang Tondo” just like Isko before entering show business.

I asked Joaquin if his father was planning to go back to show business. “Yes. We actually built a small studio and editing house in BGC where we both hold offices. We invested in cameras and people. After politics, my dad is going back to his first love, show business. The timing is perfect because Direk Darryl Yap offered 'Martyr or Murderer (MOM)' to my dad. His comeback is guaranteed with a big multimedia film outfit like Viva Films backing him up and Darryl Yap directing him.”

Joaquin's film “That Boy in the Dark” where he won best actor thrice, is still showing in theaters all over the Philippines. It also stars Lotlot de Leon, Kiko Ipapo, Glydel Mercado and Aneeza Gutierrez.
