DICT advances digital cooperation with Singapore

In hopes of advancing digital cooperation with foreign territories, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) inked another memorandum of understanding, this time with Singapore.

DICT Undersecretary for Public Affairs and Foreign Relations Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo with Singapore’s Ambassador to the Philippines Gerard Ho Wei Hong.

The MOU, according to DICT, covered digital cooperation, including digital connectivity, cybersecurity and e-governance. It was signed by DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy and Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo in September 2022.

“We discussed with Ambassador Gerard Ho Wei Hong how we can implement this MOU and which areas we should focus on. Singapore has so much experience in the area of e-governance and cybersecurity and they can share with us their best practices these areas,” said DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

“The MOU also covers exchange of knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices on measures relating to scam calls and scam short message services; on personal data protection; and in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G, cloud computing, Internet of Things, big data, analytics and robotics; among others,” she furthered.

In relation to this, Lamentillo recently met with Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian, seeking to further enhance digital cooperation with China.
