With M4 title and Finals MVP award, BennyQT proves he's the best gold laner

A lot has been said about Benedict “BennyQt” Gonzales throughout the course of the M4 World Championships.

And most of the time that he was being tagged as the best gold laner in the class, he would shy away from the notion and just shrug it off, feeling he’s still not rightful of it with no world title to show.

"I'm not the best gold laner in the world because I don't have an MPL Trophy or any world titles. So, I won't admit it before I win the title on this M4."

But on Sunday, Jan. 15, BennyQT not only won the M-series World Championship, but also made sure to showcase a performance to remember that would put him the undisputed best gold laner in the MPL scene right now.

He finished with a total of 19 kills and 16 assists against only five deaths in the four-game sweep of defending champions Blacklist International with his Lunox and Brody picks.

Despite the impressive performance, BennyQt admitted that the plum still came as a surprise for him although he related that it has been the goal and motivation for him to perform well in M4.

“Grabe. Hindi ko ineexpect talaga, as in, pero coming in sa M4 inexpect ko siya, parang ito 'yung goal ko and kumbaga ayun 'yung sinet ko na goal para kung hindi ko man makuha 'yun, at least champion kami,” said BennyQT.

“Pero nitong, grand finals, wala na talaga akong pake na award. Kaya sobrang grateful ako na sa akin pa rin binigay,” he added.

For him, everything that led to that stage was all worth it, especially that they finally decoded Blacklist which dealt so many heartbreaks to ECHO since MPL Philippines Season 10.

“Masaya po tapos sobrang worth it ng lahat kasi simula MPL Season 10, Blacklist na kalaban namin. Nilaglag nila kami from upper tapos nakalaban namin sila sa finals tapos ngayong M4 nilaglag din kami galing upper so sobrang saya talaga,” said the BennyQT who joined Blacklist’s Kiel “Oheb” Soriano and teammate Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno as the three Filipino players who bagged the award.
