Two NCRPO rookie cops lauded for rejecting bribe offer in Taguig City

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) lauded two of its rookie cops for turning down a bribe in exchange for the release of two foreigners who were arrested on Saturday, Jan. 14 after allegedly extorting money from a robbery victim in Taguig City.

Instead of accepting the bribe, Patrolmen Hever Caspe and Mark Leonard Arcilla arrested 24-year-old Yi Miu at the Sub-Station 1 of the Taguig City Police where the attempted bribery allegedly occurred.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said Yi was then negotiating for the release of his friends Fei He Haikang Lyu who were collared in an entrapment operation after they demanded P20,000 from a Filipina in exchange for the return of her personal belongings who were forcibly taken by robbers.

The two arrested Chinese also yielded 2.2 grams of shabu, according to the police.

Yi allegedly offered the two cops P182,000 but it was outrightly turned down by the two cops.

Seized from him were a 9mm pistol, bullets and a car.

"The act of these officers to resist temptation and in performing their mandate despite the handsome offer of compromise from the suspect is what we truly expect from our officers. Verily, they deserve commendation for showcasing the innate character of an officer who is committed and dedicated to his profession," said Estomo.
