Cerilo Balasabas, 48, councilor of Barangay Guba, was gunned down by three NPA rebels while he was outside his house.

JB Regalado, LPC-NPA spokesperson, said they murdered Balasabas due to his actions against the people and the revolutionary movement.

Regalado said Balasabas was an intelligence asset of the Army 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB). The victim was accused of threatening and red-tagging residents to force them to surrender to the government.

He said they tried reaching out to Balasabas in August last year but he refused to back down.

Regalado said that the death of Balasabas serves as a stern warning to all who have cases with the revolutionary court.
