Comelec begins printing ballots for Cavite special elections

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) started on Wednesday, Jan. 11 the printing of ballots for the special elections that will determine who will hold the vacated House of Representatives (HOR) seat in the [7th Legislative District of the province of Cavite](https://mb.com.ph/2020/05/02/fighting-the-unseen-enemy-a-young-doctors-badge-of-honor/). According to Deputy Executive Director Rafael Olaño, the said election will be participated by one city,  and three municipalities which are composed of 355,184 voters. The breakdown is as follows: 29,171 for Amadeo; 46,552 for Indang; 159,950 for Tanza; and 119,511 for the City of Trece Martires. After printing, Olaño said that these will be delivered on Feb. 15 and 16 for the final testing and sealing. The Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) will also be tested in the respective polling centers. After all these, the special elections will push through Feb. 25. He added that a Random Manual Audit (RMA) will be held immediately after the counting in the same venue.
Pursuant to Comelec Resolution No. 10848, the poll body will be conducting a special election after the HOR passed a resolution declaring a vacancy in the 7th District of Cavite after Jesus Crispin Remulla assumed as Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Among the candidates are Remulla's son, Crispin Diego Diaz Remulla who will be running under the National Unity Party. Three others are Jose Angelito Domingo Aguinaldo, Melencio Loyola De Sagun, Jr., and Michael Angelo Bautista Santos who are all independent. Similar to the May 2022 polls, the voting, counting, and canvassing of votes will be via the Automated Elections System, using the VCMs and the Consolidation and Canvassing System (CCS).
