2 'fixers' offering non-appearance LTO transactions on Facebook arrested
Agents of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have arrested two suspected fixers, including a 68-year old man, during an operation in Parañaque City.
Nabbed were Oliver Villanueva, 68, of Barangay Karuhatan, Valenzuela City; and, Jarrie Sibug of Barangay Sun Valley, Parañaque City.
Roque I. Verzosa III, director of the LTO- National Capital Region-West, said the operation. conducted in Barangay Moonwalk was based on the confirmed intelligence reports about some individuals who have been offering services to facilitate renewal of car registration and driver's license.
The operation of the two were reportedly being offered though a social media platform.
"We immediately conducted the operation after we confirmed what they have been posting on Facebook that they could facilitate transactions at the LTO," according to Florante Martin, the Chief of LTO Paranaque,
Martin said the two are asking P9,000 for non-appearance transaction at LTO.
The suspects are now detained at the PNP Paranaque Custodial Facility.
"We have been intensifying our campaign and efforts against fixers to protect the public. The people can be assured of our continuous aggressive operations," said Verzosa, for his part.
