10 cockfight aficionados nabbed in Batangas 'tupada'

SANTO TOMAS CITY, Batangas – Ten persons were arrested for allegedly engaging in a "tupada" or illegal cockfight in Barangay San Pablo here on Sunday, Jan. 15.

The cockfight afficionados were identified as Manuel Borja, 57; Fernan Salazar, 30; Allan Mangampo, 48; Marlon Dimakiling, 49; Allen Tilus, 34; Regie Surtida, 36; Eliseo Gungob, 49; Julius Francisco, 21; Hemson Ramos, 26, and Mark Anthony Manto, 33, residents of Barangay San Pablo.

Police caught the suspects red-handed participating and betting in the illegal cockpit arena. The raid was in line with the campaign against illegal gambling here.

Recovered from them were three fighting cocks, two “tari” or gaff, and bet money amounting to P2,200.
