The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) named Jail Chief Inspector Jayrex Joseph C. Bustinera as its new spokesperson.
He replaced Jail Supt. Xavier Solda who was assigned in Region IX for his first field assignment.
Bustinera, is a member of Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 2008. He received a master's degree in Development Management at the Asian Institute of Management in 2016.
He is one of the BJMP officials with over a decade of experience in the bureau’s field units and has been assigned in various capacities in jail management, from security and administration, persons deprived of liberty (PDL) Records Management, Paralegal Service, to being a jail warden.
During his time in the field, Bustinera introduced and co-created innovative solutions in jail systems such as the Biometrics Visitor Management System, Classification and Risk Assessment of PDL, and digitization of PDL Records Management.
His most recent assignment was warden of the Marikina City Jail–Male Dormitory where he pioneered the "Barangayanihan Initiative," a BJMP community-based aftercare program for PDL and their families.
Bustinera is currently the chief of the BJMP’s Community Relations Service Office (CRSO) and concurrently the chief of staff of the Center for Jail Excellence & Strategy Management (CJESM).
Meanwhile, Solda cited Bustienera for his accomplishments in the bureau as he urged the rank-and-file to provide the same support he got to the new BJMP spokesperson. (Chito A. Chavez)
