The Pasig City local government welcomed a new batch of students, consisting of 545 sports scholars and 1,700 beneficiaries of the Continuing High School Program Incentive (CHIP-In), under the Pasig City Scholarship Program (PCSP) for academic year 2022 to 2023.
A two-day orientation and general assembly was held for the learners on Thursday, Jan. 12 and Friday, Jan. 13 at the Tanghalang Pasigueño.

In the local government's pursuit in aiding young Pasigueños to improve their "education, personal advancement, and self-fulfillment toward a brighter future," the PCSP includes a sports scholarship to young athletes to help hone their skills and support their sports endeavors along with their education.
One of the PSCP's main qualifications for eligibility is high grades and merits for the applicants. However, the local government acknowledges the financial needs of students who do not meet the grade criteria.
To give other students a chance to get a scholarship, the CHIP-In program, under the PSCP, was made to provide financial assistance to high school learners in public schools who have earned average and passing grades in their classes.
Through the CHIP-In, beneficiaries will receive a monthly allowance worth P500, which will be given per semester, twice a year.
When their grades are able to meet the qualification for the scholarship, CHIP-In beneficiaries may apply to become a PCSP scholar.

The orientation was attended by Mayor Vico Sotto, Congressman Roman Romulo, and City Councilors Volta Delos Santos, Kiko Rustia, Syvel Asilo, and Pao Santiago. Each official gave short speeches and words of encouragement to inspire the scholars and beneficiaries.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said the local government is aiming to further increase the number of scholars in the city. Currently, the PCSP has a total of 23,000 scholars.
He assured the learners of the government's continued support, and urged them to "do their best" for the betterment of their future and the future of Pasig City.
Other topics highlighted in the orientation were the rules and policies of the scholarship program and the entitled benefits of the scholars.
