Hardware owner in Lucena City shot dead inside his store


LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- A 52-year-old seaman and owner of a hardware store was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on Friday night, Jan. 13, in this city.

The police identified the fatality as Ispin Luzanta Monteclaro, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Bocohan, here.

Around 7:30 p.m., the victim was inside his hardware store adjacent to his house when a gunman entered and shot him several times using an unknown firearm.

The suspect fled on foot.

Monteclaro was rushed to Lucena United Doctors Hospital (LUDH) and underwent a revival procedure but did not survive. He was pronounced dead by the attending physician Dr. Rowena Ragos.

Probers recovered at the crime scene three fired cartridge cases which will be subjected to ballistic test by the firearm examiner of the Quezon Police Forensic Unit (QPFU).
