BTS’ Jin appointed as teaching assistant in the Army recruit training center 


K-pop idol group BTS member Jin has been assigned to his own unit in the Korean Army.

A military official announced on Jan. 13 that Jin has been assigned as an teaching assistant in the 5th Infantry Division recruit training center.

Jin enlisted in the Army on Dec. 13 as an active duty soldier and entered the recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.

He is currently undergoing basic military training and will be finished on Jan. 18. He will serve as an teaching assistant in the same battalion starting on Jan. 19. His discharge date is on June 12, 2024, Korean media reported.

Among the celebrities who have served or have been serving as assistants at recruit training centers include “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” star Kang Tae-oh, Kim Dong-jun, Big Bang’s Daesung and EXO’s Xiumin.

Another Korean news report quoted a military official as saying that Jin applied for the selection of an teaching assistant .

“The final selection was made after going through a ceremony, command adjustment evaluation, and oral interview. The 5th Infantry Division will do its best until the end so that all trainees who graduate can faithfully carry out their duties in their respective units,” the official added.

When asked about Jin’s appointment, Big Hit Music, BTS’ agency, said, “It is difficult to confirm.”
