Fernando scolds owners of jeepney bearing obscene message

Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando said on Friday, Jan. 13, he wants to instill positive patriotism and uphold the dignity of Bulakenyos.

Fernando made his statement after he called the attention of the owners of a public utility jeep (PUJ) in Bocaue town over the obscene message about the province’s development written on the vehicle’s footboard. A picture of the jeepney went viral online.

“Dahil sa mga concerned citizens nabatid po ng inyong Lingkod ang kumakalat ngayong larawan sa social media hinggil sa mga bastos na katagang nakasulat sa estribo ng isang jeep. Agad namin itong inaksyunan upang ito ay maitama at ang ano mang uri ng pambabastos sa Lalawigan ng Bulacan (Because of concerned citizens, I learned about the picture spreading on social media regarding the rude message written on a jeep's footboard. We immediately acted on it to correct any kind of insult to the province of Bulacan)," the governor said.

The owners of the jeepney with Baliwag-Malinta route have issued a public apology and begged Fernando and the Bulakenyos to give them another chance to correct their slip-ups and promised to not do it again.

Meanwhile, Fernando made sure that the jeepney owners understand where he is coming from and explained that they should be proud of the province where they are residing.

The Provincial Legal Office headed by lawyer Gerard Nelson C. Manalo is currently checking on the possible punishment for the said jeepney owners.
