CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando -- The Police Regional Office 3 command group together with the regional staff, provincial and city directors submitted their courtesy resignations in response to a call made by the Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr.
Sec. Abalos said the call for a mass resignation of all police generals and colonels is in line with the directive of President Marcos Jr. in his bid to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs which includes cleaning the Philippine National Police.
The President’s directive stemmed from serious allegations that so-called ‘ninja cops’ may have been tattering the PNP image owing to their alleged involvement in illegal drugs trade.
On Friday, Central Luzon regional police director Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen confirmed that the region has two police generals and 23 colonels.
“We strongly support the call of the SILG and we are 100% compliant,” said Brig. General Pasiwen.
“This is also part of the internal cleansing program and as high ranking officers we should adhere and be examples to our subordinates. We see this as an opportunity to regain public trust as we submit ourselves to scrutiny,” added BGen. Pasiwen.
Actually, the courtesy resignation had already been submitted on Jan. 6, but was announced only when media men asked about it.
