Bonnie Tan to bring 'Letran magic' to NorthPort

After his remarkable feat with the Letran Knights in the NCAA, coach Bonnie Tan is reportedly heading to a bigger and challenging stage.

Tan, according to multiple sources, would replace Pido Jarencio as head coach of the Batang Pier as the management is hoping that his “magic” will help change the team’s fortune.

NorthPort hasn’t been able to break into the semifinals since 2019 where the then eighth seeded Batang Pier barged into the semifinals after taking down twice-to-beat NLEX behind import Michael Qualls and big man Christian Standhardinger under Jarencio.

In the first two conferences this season, NorthPort failed to make it to the playoffs in the Philippine Cup and bowed out in the quarterfinals in the Commissioner’s Cup.

The mild-mannered Tan, also the current team manager of the Batang Pier, on the other hand, steered the Knights to a three-peat – the school’s first since the glorious collegiate years of Samboy Lim with the Intramuros-based school.

NorthPort Governor Erick Arejola is yet to reply to a query at posting time.
