Tingog party-list free medicine program for admitted patients at EVMC launched

TACLOBAN CITY – The Tingog party-list group on Wednesday, Jan. 11, launched ‘’Project Tambal’’ or Take-Home Medication Benefit Assistance Link that would enable patients admitted at the Eastern Visayas Medical Center here to avail of take-home medicines for free.
Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre said the program aims to help reduce the expenses of patients in the purchase of prescribed medicines since PhilHealth only covers medicines during admission.
He cited that the lack of medicines is one of the causes of readmission of patients and these will be provided at the hospital pharmacy.
Acidre said that the assistance is available to all admitted patients regardless of their status.
"All they need to do is go to the pharmacy, get the instructions, and go to Tingog for endorsement to be charged to our funds," he added.
He said that a total of P200 million has been allotted for the EVMC last year and they hope to increase the program’s budget this year.
Acidre said they are in the process of making the service available to other provincial hospitals in the region.
EVMC is the biggest government hospital in Eastern Visayas.
