After skipping the meet with the Filipino community in his previous foreign trip, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will be meeting with Filipinos in Switzerland on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Carlos Sorreta said Filipinos in Switzerland have started registering for the meeting with the Filipino community event of the President there.
"We also have a number of activities on the sidelines, including business meetings as well as meeting with the Filipino community-- not only from Switzerland, I understand other Filipino community members from other parts of Europe have also asked to attend, and they will be allowed to attend," Sorreta said during the pre-departure briefing on Thursday, Jan. 12.
"We're at 700 now who have registered and increasing. We hope to accommodate them," Sorreta added.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), there are a total of 758,019 in Europe, around 10,000 of them are in Switzerland.
Meeting the Filipino community is one of the constant parts of Marcos' foreign trips. He, however, skipped the event during his state visit in China due to the surging cases of Covid-19 there.
Marcos will leave for Davos on Jan. 15.
