Heavy rainfall displaces thousands of residents in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY - More than 1,000 residents in Negros Occidental were evacuated due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
Based on a report of the local government of Cadiz posted on its Facebook page, 273 families consisting of 878 individuals were transferred to five evacuation centers as of 12 noon, Jan. 12.

In Sagay City, a total of 121 individuals also evacuated on Wednesday, and were staying at various evacuation centers.
At least 22 families composed of 76 individuals from three barangays in Bago City, were also affected.
A family in Barangay Pahanocoy here was also transferred to an evacuation center due to the high water level in the creek.
Meanwhile, sea trips in San Carlos City port were suspended on Thursday, Jan. 12, due to rough seas.
According to Cdr. Jansen Benjamin, public information officer of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Western Visayas, 24 passengers and 12 rolling cargoes were stranded at the said port.
