BACOLOD CITY – A former police trainee who is wanted for pending cases in a court in Iloilo City was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in Barangay Handumanan here.
Major Richard Fajarito, head of Police Station 10, identified the suspect as former Patrolman Glenn Garbosa, 33, of Barangay 35 here.
Fajarito said that Garbosa was arrested on a warrant that stemmed from his failure to appear at his scheduled court hearing in Iloilo City in relation to his cases for robbery and violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law.
The warrant dated Nov. 4, 2022 was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 37 in Iloilo City. No bail was recommended.
Fajarito said they have monitored Garbosa for a few months, until he was cornered at the house of his live-in partner.
In 2017, Garbosa was arrested in an entrapment operation after he allegedly extorted money from a retired school teacher in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district.
A firearm was also recovered from him during the operation.
Garbosa is detained at the police station and will be transported back to Iloilo City, according to Fajarito.
