ECHO dominates Onic Esports, arranges MPL PH rematch with Blacklist in UB finals

ECHO just proved to be too much for Indonesia’s best squad Onic Esports, coming away with an impressive 3-1 victory in the upper bracket semifinals in the M4 World Championship at the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan in Jakarta Indonesia on Thursday, Jan. 12.

The Philippine representative just went on with its aggressive style, rampaging through Indonesians’ line of defense every team fight to take the victory and deal the huge home crowd inside the venue another heartbreaker after Onic joined RRQ Hoshi in the lower bracket.

The Filipinos, meanwhile, will have a redo of their MPL Philippines Season 10 finals as ECHO forged an upper bracket finals date against Blacklist International.

Benedict “BennyQT” Gonzales took the Indonesians by storm anew, capping a series-long brilliance with impeccable team-fight positioning in the series clinching 25-18 Game 3 win where he finished with an 11-2-8 line on the signature Beatrix pick.

It was BennyQT along with Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera who set the tone in the romp, drawing first blood in the series, 23-18. The Filipinos had to endure the early game composition of the Indonesians before fully taking over with their mid game power spikes anchored on BennyQT’s Melissa.

Onic, though, behind Filipino import Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, retaliated with a huge 21-17 Game 2 win. Kairi stalled ECHO players with his Hayabusa pick, preventing them from going for a base march before reinforcements arrived. He then turned things around, helping his team complete a four-man wipe to equalize the series.

Unbothered by the Game 2 defeat, however, ECHO fed off the pick-off plays from Yawi on the signature Chou pick to retake the lead.
