
ILIGAN CITY – The Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council through chairman Mayor Frederick W. Siao suspended classes here on Thursday, Jan. 12, due to bad weather caused by the shear line and low-pressure area.
Siao cancelled classes from nursery to Grade 12, including Alternative Learning System students, as the weather condition being experienced in this city poses grave danger to students attending school, most especially students from primary school.
Heavy rain has triggered landslides in two barangays.
As of 8:55 p.m. Wednesday night, Iligan was under orange rainfall warning and heavy rain was expected in the 12 hours.
Siao urged residents to be vigilant and safe.
He told the people to contact the ICDRRMO Communication Center at 09977262692 and 137.400mHz on VHF radio for emergency response.
Aside from this city, heavy rain was forecast in some parts of Lanao del Norte in the next 12 hours beginning 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
This city has experienced incessant rain in the past two days.
