DAGUPAN CITY – The Commission on Elections has encouraged residents to register early and not wait for the deadline of the voter’s registration on Jan. 31.
Lawyer Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, called on residents to register at their nearest Comelec office or off-site registration sites in their localities.
“Sana mag-register na po ng maaga, para masiguro na makapagparehistro at hindi na pipila sa araw ng deadline. Uulitin ko po ang maximum capacity lang na kakayanin ng aming makina na mairehisto sa isang araw ay nasa 400 lamang (Register early to ensure registration and avoid long lines. Please do not wait for the deadline. We can only accommodate 400 registrants),” Salas said during a media forum.
The Comelec targets about 50,000 new voters in Pangasinan from Dec. 12 to Jan. 31 for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
As of Jan. 5, Salas said 17,971 new voters have registered, 7,275 Sangguniang Kabataan and 10,690 regular voters.
He said that Comelec offices in the province are conducting off-site voter’s registration in schools, malls, and even barangays to bring voter registration closer to the people.
