QC cops arrest carnap group leader in Marikina

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested the leader of a carnapping group in Marikina City on Tuesday evening, Jan. 10.

Lt. Col. Rolando Lorenzo Jr, QCPD District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) chief, identified the suspect as John Martin Dioquino, 24, a resident of Parang, Marikina City.

He was arrested by joint operatives of the DSOU, District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU), and Highway Patrol Group of Hilltop, Rizal along G. Del Pilar St., Parang, Marikina City at around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect had a warrant of arrest for violation of Presidential Decree 1612 (Anti-Fencing Law) issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 219 Presiding Judge Janet Abergos-Samar on March 28, 2021, with a recommended bail of P120,000.

The QCPD said the suspect is the leader of the Dioquino Carnapping Group based in Marikina City and operating in Rizal Province and Metro Manila.

He already faced several complaints for violation of Republic Act 10883 or New Anti-Carnapping Law and P.D. 1612 in Marikina City, Antipolo City and Quezon City, it added.

According to the police, the operation stemmed from a series of surveillance in his last known addresses and frequently visited places in Paterno, Ramon Magsaysay, Kaolin, and G. Del Pilar Streets in Parang, Marikina.

It said that the suspect also gave them a tip on the whereabouts of some of the motorcycles that were allegedly stolen as well as of one Christian Ayes, a member of his group who is responsible for the carnapping operations in Quezon City.

The police went to M.L. Quezon St., Parang and Barangay Concepcion Uno, both in Marikina City, and to Buntong Palay, San Mateo Rizal but failed to locate Ayes.

The operatives recovered a blue Yamaha NMAX motorcycle with replaced ignition lever and changed color from gray to blue (allegedly stolen by the group) after it was voluntarily surrendered by one Jose Miguel Angelo Rosales, the possessor of the vehicle, in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City,

A gray Yamaha NMAX motorcycle with a defective ignition lever was also surrendered by the parents of Ayes in Buntong Palay, San Mateo, Rizal.

Both motorcycles have no registration documents and the possessors likewise failed to present any supporting documents.
