Marcos tagged this as among the concerns that must be addressed immediately as 63 classrooms that were flooded as a result of the downpour caused by the shear line.

“If the LGUs (local government units) can take the load, we can send you the three million plus immediately. Kasi ito yung nakalista dito (Because this is listed here), for the school buildings,” Marcos said in a situation briefing in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

“I’m talking about the school buildings for the repair. Yeah do it. By administration na lang para mas mabilis. Mas mabilis and mas mura (so that it would be faster. Faster and cheaper),” Marcos said.

The President has also instructed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the repair of damaged infrastructure once the floodings have subsided.

During the situation briefing, the local government of Gingoog reported that the number of affected families has risen to 18,452, while forty-five out of 59 barangays have been affected.

Villagers residing in the coastal areas incurred the most damage.
