The San Juan City local government, together with other government agencies, distributed cash assistance and other aid to the victims of the fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Onse on Sunday, Jan. 8.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and city government officials led the distribution on Monday, Jan. 9 as they visited the 23 families affected by the fire.
Each family received P10,000 financial assistance from the LGU while the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also gave them food packs, family kits, and other essential goods.
Aside from assistance from the LGU, San Juan City Representative Bel Zamora is also arranging a separate P10,000 for the affected families.
"Isang pagsubok ito, pero ang importante, buhay po tayo at walang nasaktan. At kung anuman ang mga pagsubok na dadaan, nandito po kami handang tumulong sa inyo (Despite this difficulty, what is important is that no one was killed or hurt by the fire. Whatever challenge we may face, you can rest assured that we are here to help you)," Zamora said.
According to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at 4:48 p.m. and was declared fire out at 5:34 p.m.
