Five robbery-holdup gang members, one of them a female, were arrested by a combined team of Station Intelligence Section (SIS) and Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) operatives on Monday, Jan. 9.
Col. Byron Tabernilla, city police chief, identified the suspects as Viron Baning a.k.a. Byron Donggan, 21; Bryan Bautista Buligan a.k.a. Bryan, 38,; Michael Perez, alias Wak-Wak, 19; Jeffrey Novencido, alias Japok, 39; and Kristine Javier, alias Tin, 26.
Tabernilla said Donggan was said to be the leader of the “Donggan brothers robbery/holdup gang” operating in different parts of Metro Manila and was placed by the SIS in the police criminal gang gallery.
He said the suspects were arrested at their safe house around 10:00 p.m. at 16 De Agosto, Sta. Clara, San Roque St., Barangay 131 Zone 13, Pasay City.
The city police chief said members of the SIS and IDMS conducted follow-up operation for the arrest of the suspects after receiving information from a concerned citizen that Donggan and his group were reportedly responsible for the series of robbery/holdup that occurred in the city.
Tabernilla said police operatives were able to confiscate from Baning a .22 caliber magnum, a hand grenade from Perez, and 2.7 grams of shabu worth P18, 360.
He said the suspects were detained at the IDMS custodial facility and were charged for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives).
