The New Year celebration in the province of Bulacan was generally peaceful and safe, the Bulacan Police Provincial Office said on Sunday, Jan. 1.
Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police director, stated that as of 9 a.m. on Sunday, there were only nine firecracker-related injuries recorded in four municipalities in the province - Santa Maria with four injuries listed; San Miguel with three, Hagonoy with one, and Bulakan with also one.
There were also no reported incidents involving victims of stray bullets or illegal firearm discharge.
The members of the Pandi police on Sunday also arrested one of the suspects in the shooting incident in Barangay Cacarong Matanda.
The arrested suspect was identified as Jeanny Salinas, 43, of Binondo, Manila, while her accomplice, Dominador Salvaña remains at large.
The perpetrators allegedly shot four victims on the same day.
The injured victims were given immediate medical attention, police said.
Proper criminal charges have been prepared in addition to the ongoing pursuit operation for the culprit, who is still at large.
The City of San Jose Del Monte (CSJDM) and Pandi police conducted anti-illegal gambling operations due to numerous complaints of ongoing "tupada" or illegal cockfighting in Barangay Gaya-gaya, CSJDM, and Mapulang Lupa, Pandi.
Five individuals were caught engaging in "tupada" in the said areas.
Recovered were fighting cocks, gaffs, and bet money in different denominations.
