Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines has entered the electric vehicle race with four new vehicles to compete in the emerging segment. Now under IC Star Automotive Inc., the official and sole distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Philippines, the new vehicles range from luxurious sedans to compact SUVs.
The Mercedes-Benz EQ models are part of the brand’s vision to offer more electrified options within the coming decades. All of them are powered by state-of-the-art electric drivetrains that deliver exhilarating performance while producing zero emissions. They are equipped with the latest safety features, including advanced driver-assistance systems. Furthermore, the technology inside these cars is also cutting-edge, boasting of intuitive infotainment systems to seamless connectivity options.
EQA
The first model is the EQA, the smallest electric crossover. Based on the petrol GLA, it features a sporty yet high-riding body with youthful interior design.
The interior features the latest MBUX infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Other interior features include rose gold accents on the air vents, Thermotronic automatic climate control and two-tone Artico leather seats, and up to 64 different colors as ambient lighting.
Powering the EQA is an electric motor that produces 190-PS and 385-Nm of torque. It’s powered by a 66.5-kWh battery that can drive for 496-km on a full charge. It is priced at P3,990,000.
EQB
A slightly larger option is the EQB, which as the name suggests, is based on the petrol GLB SUV. The GLB sports a larger cabin and can easily seat seven passengers. It is powered by a 190-PS and 385-Nm electric motor, similar to the EQA. It can also drive up to 496-km on a full charge.
Buyers can expect the latest MBUX infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has its intelligent driving assistance systems such as active lane keep assist, active steering assist and active brake assist, among others. It is priced at P4,190,000.
EQE
Those looking for a more conventional body style might gravitate to the EQE sedan. Equivalent to a petrol-powered E-Class, the EQE comes in two variants: Electric Art and AMG.
The EQE boasts of features like 20-inch wheels as standard, Mercedes-Brand logo floor lights, Ultra Range High Beam lights, Mercedes-Benz Driving Assistance Package with the Guard 360 security system, Head-up display is a technology, OLED Central Display 12.8inch screen, 12.3inch Driver Display, and Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers.
The Electric Art variant can travel up to 621-km on a full charge. The AMG can go even farther, as much as 682-km on a full charge. The EQE Electric Art is priced at P5,590,000, while the EQE AMG is priced at P6,290,000.
All four are now available for viewing at Mercedes-Benz showrooms. Mercedes-Benz will begin offering test drives on September 21 to 24, 2023 in the Alabang, BGC and Greenhills dealerships. Mercedes-Benz Cebu will likewise hold a test drive event for the EQ models but will be held at September 28 to October 1, 2023.
