The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development's (DHSUD’s) flagship program, "Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH)", received the support of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP).
"Sa 'whole-of-government approach' ang ating pagtutulungan bilang ahensya, kabilang sa key shelter, ay mapapababa kung hindi man lahat ang lumolobong bilang ng informal settlers sa bansa (With the 'whole-of-government approach', our collaboration as an agency, including the key shelter, will reduce, if not all, the growing number of informal settlers in the country)," PCUP Commissioner Andre Niccolo Tayag stated in a Facebook post.
Tayag made the declaration of support after DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalito Acuzar reiterated the need for all stakeholders to work together to overcome the country's housing backlog of more than 6.5 million units.
In a statement, the DHSUD chief thanked PCUP for it support to the agency.
The 4PH program is pro-poor and designed to uplift the condition of the underprivileged Filipinos, particularly the informal settler families (ISFs), said Acuzar
Acuzar met with various cause-oriented and urban poor groups in the early stages of the 4PH to discuss the program and get their feedback.
Among the groups were the Urban Poor Action Committee, an umbrella organization of many urban poor groups; Bayan and Bayan Muna, as well as transportation groups.
