Comelec gun ban violator, other lawbreakers nabbed in Bulacan
A 50-year-old man carrying a firearm amid the implementation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban was arrested by Bulacan police in Brgy. Minuyan, Norzagaray on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
According to the reports submitted to Col. Relly B. Arnedo, provincial director of the Bulacan Provincial Police Office (PPO), the suspect was identified as Ramil Valenzuela.
Investigation showed that the Norzagaray police station received a report from a concerned citizen who claimed to have seen Valenzuela carrying a firearm and roaming around the area.
During the arrest, police recovered an improvised cal.22 rifle with a silencer and five cal.22 ammunition from the suspect.
Valenzuela is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition) and the Omnibus Election Code (Gun Ban).
Meanwhile, the Meycauayan City police conducted a follow-up operation leading to the arrest of Jerry Evangelista, 38, and James Cerdenia, 35, who were involved in a robbery hold-up incident at Brgy. Libtong, Meycauayan City.
Confiscated from the suspects were the looted cellphone of the victim and the gun replica they used.
Moreover, authorities also arrested two suspects involved in a motornapping and theft incident in Brgy. Perez, Meycauayan City.
The police identified the suspects as "Oliver," a child-in-conflict-with-the-law (CICL), and Carlo Tejano, 19.
Bladed weapons were seized from the suspects during their arrest.
Appropriate criminal complaints against the suspects are being prepared for filing in court.
The Bulacan police continues to strengthen its implementation of the Omnibus Election Code and its anti-criminality campaign to eliminate threats to the community as the election period moves forward.
