The Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) will construct five new water treatment plants in four cities up to 2027, which it said, can produce a total of 97 million liters per day (MLD).
The P5.7 billion “New Water” treatment plants projects, according to Mayniald, will be constructed in Pasay, Valenzuela, Muntinlupa, and will expand the capacity of the existing one in Parañaque.
Maynilad said that the new treatment plants will have a total combined capacity of 97 MLD, which can provide the needs of almost 400,000 customers.
Meanwhile, the existing water treatment in Parañaque produces five MLD that cater to the needs of 13,000 customers in Barangay San Isidro and San Dionisio.
In the statement, Maynilad explained that treatment plants would produce potable water sourced from used water that went through additional treatment processes.
The water treatment plant in Valenzuela is expected to start the operation within 2023 and could one MLD of additional water supply to help ease the impact of El Niño. (Nicole Magmanlac)
